The Way Your Debit Card Works Has Changed
Merchants now offer two options for swiping your Debit Card: a CREDIT transaction (sign your name) or a DEBIT transaction (enter your PIN number). You're no doubt noticing that stores now have their keypads set to accept PIN transactions for Debit Cards - that's referred to as a "Debit transaction". Your credit union benefits when you use the CREDIT option - it is less costly for the credit union to process CREDIT transactions than Debit transactions. To select a CREDIT transaction, you need to cancel the PIN-based Debit option on the signature pad, and press the CREDIT button. In other words, SIGN YOUR NAME, and don't enter your PIN. It benefits you and all our members when we can hold down our costs by using the CREDIT option, by signing your name on the signature pad.
 Protect your account -- Opt-In today! Recent legislation now prohibits us from paying important transactions like one-time Debit Card purchases and ATM withdrawals unless we receive your consent to authorize payment if your account is overdrawn. If you have not already provided us with your consent, please use one of three options: 1) Call us at the credit union -- (320)252-2634 2) Stop in at the credit union in St. Cloud or Sartell 3) Use our online form to opt-in or opt-out now. |
